The mini-supermarket at Country Class (SRIGHT Preschool) has officially opened its doors to its first customers! This is more than just playtime; it is a vital part of our early childhood education roadmap. Here, our little ones transform into cheerful “shopkeepers” and enthusiastic “customers” with their shopping baskets in hand.
Learning Communication and Social Role-Play Mindset
In today’s session, SRIGHTers were assigned roles to experience real-life situations firsthand:
- The Shopkeepers: Practicing how to introduce products, welcome customers, and handle goods skillfully.
- The Customers: Learning how to select items, ask for prices, navigate the checkout process, and receive their purchases with joy.
Innocent phrases like, “I’m selling apples!”, “I’m buying carrots!” or “May I have a banana, please?” echoed throughout the classroom, creating a vibrant and interactive learning space. Through these activities, SRIGHT Preschool helps children hone their communication skills, build confidence when interacting with peers, and form early understandings of various social roles.
Holistic Cognitive Development in a Preschool Environment
The mini-supermarket activity is a fantastic way for children to develop cognition about the world around them. They learn to categorize vegetables and fruits while identifying colors and shapes. Simulating the buying and selling process helps the child’s brain process information flexibly, thereby stimulating logical thinking and problem-solving skills from a very young age.
